Why South African Students Take the SAT
A strong SAT score can open doors to US universities, and to scholarships that reward it.
Scholarship Access
Many US universities offer merit aid to international students, and a high SAT score strengthens those applications. Scores are also used by universities outside the US.
A Score Beyond the NSC (matric) or IEB
The SAT is a separate exam from the NSC (matric) or IEB. It tests reading, writing and maths reasoning in a digital, adaptive format, so it needs its own preparation.
Prep That Fits Your Time Zone
Live one-on-one sessions on Zoom, scheduled to work with South Africa Standard Time (SAST) and your school timetable. Sessions use light screen sharing that works on ordinary connections.

SAT in South Africa: Common Questions
Where can I take the SAT in South Africa?
The SAT is offered at approved test centers, and the list changes by test date. Use the test center search on the College Board website when you register to see current locations and dates near you.
How do I pay for the SAT from South Africa?
You pay when you register on the College Board website. Accepted payment methods and fees are listed in College Board's international registration section, so check there before you register, and confirm with your bank that your card works for online international payments.
Can I get an SAT fee waiver in South Africa?
Usually not. College Board's rules say that outside the US, fee waivers are only for eligible US citizens living abroad. Check College Board's fee pages for the current fees, and ask your school counselor whether any other support is available.
I'm doing the NSC, IEB or Cambridge exams. Do I still need the SAT?
The SAT is separate from your school exams. Most US universities look at your school record plus test scores, and some make scores optional. A high SAT score can strengthen your application and scholarship chances, so many students take it alongside their school exams.
How much does SAT coaching cost?
Fees are personalised by the number of hours, your timeline and your target score. Book a free session and we'll give you a custom quote that fits your budget.
